The Vinyl Club on Leith FM Empty

As ever we appreciate the excellent feedback from the show and last week was no different. Rainer Weichhold supplied an excellent blend of driving tracks superbly lined up to complete the show.

This week we turn our attention to one of my many hero's, who for several years was better known as Rob Acid. Tracks such as Android, Storm and Chapter One had techno firmly placed with acid squelchy beats to drive any floor to a peak. For reasons only Rob can answer this moniker was replaced and he began production in his own name Robert babicz. I was fortunate to catch him play Edinburgh recently, his energy and track selection commanded attention from the first beat. His productions using his own name lend a more creative and thoughtful sound using electronica through to techno.

Resident John Gerard kicks things off with past and present tracks including Sasha Funke, Dominik Eulberg, James Teej, John Tejada and The Advent. Expect a nice relaxing intro before a stormy finish from the evenings warm up.

Robert Babicz:

On January 5th 1973 Robert was born in Poland. Since 1980 he’s lived in Germany and from the begining of the nineties he's released 5 albums and multiple maxi singles on labels like Disko B, Force Inc, Mille Plateaux, Bpitch Control, PAR, Taktik, Junkfood, Important Records or Knee Deep – the Label of DJ Rush. His pseudonymes Rob Acid, Robert Babicz, Sontec, Dicabor or Atlon Inc impart the wide range of his musical outgrowths; he hits different spots and leaves his marks.

Robert was led to music through a mixture of accident and frustration. Dedicated to his profession as programmer, his frustration about an undiscoverable error drove him to the tracker program of his Commodore Amiga, in a sleepless night. This was the last time, he set down on the Commodore to use it for programming – since that night he was driven to the Computer by music.

And thankfully the computer as well as us appreciate the craft and skill in action.

Join us next week for our successful Flow Management series.
